Dr. Haskins will present "Spanish Patriots: A Century of Recognition" during the Bexar America250 Symposium – Part II: Forging Frontiers, a day-long symposium exploring the people, events, and ideas that shaped Texas during the American Revolution. Her presentation examines the century-long effort to recognize Spanish Patriots, the contributions of Spain and Spanish Texans to American independence, and the ongoing research expanding our understanding of the Revolutionary era.

Conversations on World Heritage: Rancheras and the Revolution
Dr. Erika Arredondo-Haskins will join Dr. Amy Porter for an engaging discussion exploring the lives of the Spanish Texas rancheras whose contributions to the American Revolution are only now being uncovered. Drawing on original archival research, this presentation examines the vital roles these women played as ranch owners, community leaders, and supporters of Spain's efforts during the Revolutionary era.

Live Podcast Taping: Rancheras—The Unsung Heroes of the American Revolution at the 2026 Association of Texas Professional Educators (ATPE) Summit
Dr. Haskins will present "Live Podcast Taping: Rancheras—The Unsung Heroes of the American Revolution," an engaging session exploring the overlooked contributions of Spanish Texas rancheras during the American Revolution. Participants will discover how these women's stories, supported by primary source research, can be incorporated into Texas history classrooms and aligned with Texas curriculum standards.

Presentation: “Like Mother, Like Daughter: Exploring the Lives and Educational Legacies of the Yturri-Edmunds Women in Early Texas History.”
Dr. Erika Arredondo-Haskins will present research on Vicenta Yturri- Edmunds and her daughter Ernestine E. Edmunds, two Spanish Catholic educators whose lives reflect the deep traditions of faith, service, and community leadership in San Antonio.
Drawing from archival sources, the presentation highlights how these women helped shape educational opportunities within the Tejano community and contributed to the civic and cultural life of Texas.
Dr. Haskins curated a travel exhibition that will be displayed at the event.

"Beyond the Battle: Exploring the Lives of Women and Children at the Alamo, 1836"
This lecture examines the Spanish Texas women noncombatants of the Battle of the Alamo and their children, situating the events of March 1836 within the broader social fabric of San Antonio. The presentation considers the families who lived in and around the Alamo compound, their experiences during the siege, and their lives in the aftermath of the battle.
The symposium is free and open to the public. Registration is required.
